A meeting of the North-Central New York YMCA Gymnastics
League was held at the Watertown YMCA on Ma4vh 17, 2012 at 11:50 AM. The following YMCAs were represented: Cortland, Glens Falls, Oneonta, Saratoga,
Watertown.
League Championship 2012 – Mr. Miller asked teams if
any were interested in hosting the 2013 League Championship meet. Glens Falls was the only team expressing interest so
therefore they will host.
Team Qualification – A point was raised that teams
competing in the league championship should be active in the meets held by
league teams. After discussion, it was
suggested that teams must participate in at least two regular league meets,
other than their own home meets, during the season to be eligible compete in or
host the league championship. This was
unanimously passed.
Meet Schedules – Mr. Miller asked if the team meet
schedules had been distributed early enough to be helpful last year (the
deadline was September 15th).
It was felt that they needed to be available by September 1st
so teams could distribute their meet schedule to parents. Mr. Miller will remind everyone to distribute
them.
League Opener -
A discussion was held regarding the “League Opener” meet that had been
held in previous years but was deleted from the schedule by the teams last
year. It was felt that teams would like
to have a meet in late November (weekend before Thanksgiving) but that it would
not have any special designation. A team
wishing to host a meet then could just add it to its schedule of meets.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned
at 12:20.

2011 League Minutes
The meeting of the North-Central YMCA Gymnastics League was held at the Watertown YMCA during the League Championship meet at 4:30 PM. The YMCAs represented were: Cortland, Glens Falls, Oneonta, Saratoga, Watertown.
1. League Opener - A discussion was held whether the league should formally designate a “league opener” meet. The consensus was that this should not be done. The teams will be responsible for scheduling all meets except the league championship.
2. Meets - A discussion was held regarding the scheduling of meets during the year. It was felt that the team schedules of meets should be completed as early as possible and distributed to the teams that would be invited so planning could be expedited and any scheduling conflicts could be dealt with eary. It was agreed that teams complete their meet schedule not later than September 15th.
3. League Championship - The league championship was discussed. Glens Falls offered to host the meet. They were awarded the meet.
4. YMCA Nationals - Coaches were concerned about the YMCA National Meet dates being at the end of the June which makes it extremely difficult for teams from New York to go because of high school regents exams and graduation activities. Mr. Miller noted that New York schools end much later than most other states. Previous contact with national committee members indicated that most other states end their school year much early, some in late May/early June. The YMCAs from these states found it difficult to keep their programs going through the vacation period from the end of the school year until early July. Therefore, the committee was meeting the needs of the majority of the YMCAs.
It was suggested that perhaps the National Meet could be held during Memorial Day weekend. Mr. Miller will contact our representative on the national committee to bring this question to the national committee.

A meeting of the North-Central New York YMCA Gymnastics League was held at the Glens Falls YMCA on April 10th at 12:20 PM. YMCAs represented were: Cortland, Glens Falls, Oneonta, Saratoga, Watertown.
Bids were solicited for the following meets: League Opener and League Championships. The League Opener was awarded to Saratoga and the League Championship was awarded to Watertown.
There was concern expressed about the status of the team from the Corning YMCA.. Mr. Miller will contact the YMCA for further information and to offer any assistance that the league can offer.
